Skunkape called me up in a frenzied fit of rage, cackling and ranting about how the Ryan Gosling 80's mafia fever dream "Drive" contained a song from "Farewell Uncle Tom". My Hardy boys skills of detective work leads me too believe that the music supervisor is either pals with Eli Roth or Tarantino or is the manchester morgue dude gone Hollywood! At any bizarre rate here it is all showcased in a pivotal scene a song by Mr. Mondo of all people, Riz Ortolani "Oh My Love" . I myself didn't notice because unlike Skunkape I don't have the cast iron will and soul deflector to sit through such a repulsive hyper racist, recreation of the old timey slave plantations. I mean just too recreate it only a group of horrible people (like Prosperi and Jacopetti) would subject people to this kind of film. Italians are obsessed with realism and the fact that they exploited Haitians in order to prove their point that American Slavery was fucked up, did they really have to add insult to injury? Of course they did?! I know I'm one of those sensitive types who gets offended by this kind of garbage, whatever.
here's a pretty good review of goodbye uncle tom.
