"Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" is a 70's tv movie that has haunted me ever since i saw it for the first time at an impressionable age. This is a film that made me check all the vents and nooks and all the crannies of my house to see if demons or coneheaded goblins were lurking behind the walls. There is no reason this thing should exist other then to scare the shit out of anyone that watches it.I just re-found it on youtube(do yourself a favor and check it out before the remake).Kim Darby, I recognize her as the mom from "Better Off Dead". Uncle Charlie from My 3 Sons, who gets accosted and terrified into silence by a mob of the hideous creatures who have voices that constantly whisper and sound sort of like the vocal effects on Skeletor's Snake Mountain. They say shit like "You Told, You Told, now you're gonna die" (it's hilarious). There are a few odd things that seem like clues or metaphors, but I might be reaching- Kim Darby and her girlfriend look and seem like lesbians(they mention women's lib a few times).
They have a white maid and a fancy 50's looking business dinner party where one of the goblins tries to pull Sally(Kim Darby's) napkin off her lap and it freaks the shit outta her!
The creatures seem very easy to kill just turn on the light, but they are tenacious and know how to use a tripwire and a straight razor. Highly Recommended!
you can buy a legit copy from Warnerarchives or watch it on youtube while it lasts!
