MetalStorm in 3D

MetalStorm The Destruction of Jared-Syn is a film I have bizarre memories of seeing at a theater in Long Island Ny when 3D back then was considered just a lame gimmick just as people should regard it. I know it’s back with a vengeance, but obviously it’s purely about stealing the idiotic public’s money (case in point “Cats VS DOGS The revenge of Kitty Galore”). All I remember about Metal Storm was that every character seemed waay too close to my face, I mean like an inch away and evil looking Iron Maiden style dudes flung pieces of metal at the screen a lot. I hadn’t seen Mad Max prior to watching this, but I kind of knew it was still a rip off from watching the review on Siskel & Ebert. They completely trashed it although my dad and I still went and from what I can recall he hated it too. The theater floors in NY were painted with syrupy soda and smashed candy, they were always grimy and disgusting my feet got stuck there and I almost couldn’t peel them off the floor. I took my 3D glasses off at one point and saw that everything was doubled or tripled. It gave you an immediate headache, so you put back your glasses on and continued to watch the dullness. I later found out primitive 3D was done this way with simultaneous cameras going at the same time to create the 3D illusion. I was pretty enthralled though it didn’t take much to impress me at 7 years old. Check out this trailer it does look awesome. Cenobites had sex with Eddie from Iron Maiden with Richard Moll as a Cyclops maybe I was right this was kickass! There were so many Mad Max/Star Wars ripoffs in the 80's it was a plague.
