There are only a few movies that merit the jaw dropping scale of visceral horror and surrealism caliber of genius and this film is one of those. It locked onto my brain like a tractor beam and dug into my brain like a viper & man am I'm glad I checked it out. It has qualities of The Brood and The Entity, two flicks tackling the tender subject of female rage and psyche(The Brood harvesting rage into evil ravenous child form) and The Entity (ghost rape and the nightmarish fear of being left alone with the spectral rapist). I've also read the excellent book by Frank De Felitta which had an entire gang of ghost rapers and also dwarves. So on to "Possession" directed by Andrzej Zulawski. What can you look forward to in this absolute monster? well let's start with a vile miscarriage (her neck ooozes blood and snot) and out from her legs into the subway. That's just for starters, Isabelle Adjani basically has violent seizures all through out and she is incredible. She is very convincing I've never seen anyone act this frightening and spastic besides Samantha Eggar from The Brood, but she could only carry it so far(she was pretty easy going in The Exterminator). I didn't even mind Sam Neil who i usually don't like.
There just so much crazy shit going on in this one! Stabbings, a Blood soaked creature that has sex with Isabelle and transforms into the person she cheats on. Just find it now and freak out, so glorious!
